E1/A1- Student Details crashes when changing the Scholastic Year
This problem occurs only very infrequently but is quite persistent for a particular student when it does occur. The error is caused by index file corruption but rebuilding the index files using I2 or E1/C1 does not fix it.
To fix it, the SSTUDENT.X? index files first must be deleted and then I2 or E1/C1 used to recreate the index files.
Scholastic Year Zero (0)
The scholastic year '0' (zero) should not be used to indicate pre-enrolled students that will progress into Kindergarten 'K' in the following year.
OASIS internally converts the code for Kindergarten 'K' into '0' when indexing files and hence makes the scholastic year of the year '0' pre-enrolled students indistinguishable from those currently enrolled in Kindergarten.
If is preferable to use the code 'J' which will automatically be updated to 'K' during end of year rollover.
